About Kathy Anderberg
The Noisy Neighbors typically practice together once a week. That meant
the band's 1800 watt PA gear sat idle most of the time. That is until
Kathy discovered that it made one kick-ass home stereo system. OK, she
didn't say “kick-ass”, but she did start using the minimal amount of
buttons and sliders on the Mackie 16 track mixer to fill the house with
music.

For the first few gigs, the band had Tom (bass player) mix the sound
from the stage, which meant it sounded great through the stage monitors,
but unbalanced in the house speakers.

The band needed a sound tech, but whom could they trust to bring out the
best they had to offer? Who would be willing to travel with the band and
help setup and tear down the PA gear? Was there a person among us that
could deal with the inflated egos of part-time rock stars gig after gig?

Kathy. Kathy could do it. Sure, it's easy, a few more sliders to learn a
couple extra cables to plug in and she would be fine.

Kathy has been more than fine. Once the mixer case is in place, it's all
hers. Kathy untangles the snake, plugs it all in and walks the band
through a sound check, often pointing out which cable on stage was
plugged into the wrong patch in haste.

She experienced how the sound dynamics change from venue to venue and
throughout the performance and became a quick study on what adjustments
to make. The Noisy Neighbors perform at a lot of private parties in odd
basements and living rooms. The band receives a lot of complements on
how the sound level is “just right”, loud enough for dancing but not so
loud that a casual conversation becomes a shouting match.

“I enjoy running the board because I get to mix the music the way I like
it. More cow bell!”
